No se entiende c\u00f3mo la silimarina produce estos efectos, pero puede implicar la supresi\u00f3n de NF-kappa B, un factor de transcripci\u00f3n nuclear, que regula la expresi\u00f3n de varios genes implicados en la inflamaci\u00f3n, la citoprotecci\u00f3n y la carcinog\u00e9nesis.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>En este informe, investigamos el efecto de la silimarina en la activaci\u00f3n de NF-kappa B inducida por varios agentes inflamatorios.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>La silimarina bloque\u00f3 la activaci\u00f3n inducida por TNF de NF-kappa B de una manera dependiente de la dosis y el tiempo. Este efecto estuvo mediado por la inhibici\u00f3n de la fosforilaci\u00f3n y la degradaci\u00f3n de Iota kappa B alfa, un inhibidor de NF-kappa B. La silimarina bloque\u00f3 la translocaci\u00f3n de p65 al n\u00facleo sin afectar su capacidad para unirse al ADN. La transcripci\u00f3n del gen informador dependiente de NF-kappa B tambi\u00e9n fue suprimida por la silimarina.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>La silimarina tambi\u00e9n bloque\u00f3 la activaci\u00f3n de NF-kappa B inducida por el \u00e9ster de forbol, LPS, \u00e1cido okadaico y ceramida, mientras que la activaci\u00f3n de NF-kappa B inducida por H2O2 no se vio significativamente afectada.
