El tratamiento es t\u00f3xico y 5-10% de los humanos mueren a pesar del tratamiento.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>OBJETIVO: El objetivo de este trabajo fue estudiar compuestos activos naturales para encontrar nuevas mol\u00e9culas con alta actividad y baja toxicidad contra Leishmania infantum chagasi .<\/p>\n<p>MATERIALES Y M\u00c9TODO: Los compuestos timol y eugenol se eligieron como compuestos de partida para sintetizar derivados de acetilo y benzoilo y para probar su actividad antileishmanial in vitro e in vivo contra L. i. chagasi. Se us\u00f3 un ensayo de detecci\u00f3n usando promastigotes que expresan luciferasa para medir la inhibici\u00f3n del crecimiento de los promastigotes, y se realiz\u00f3 un ELISA in situ para evaluar la inhibici\u00f3n del crecimiento de amastigote. Para el ensayo in vivo, se administraron derivados de timol y eugenol IP a ratones BALB \/ c a 100 mg \/ kg \/ d\u00eda durante 30 d\u00edas.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>RESULTADOS: Los derivados de timol demostraron una mayor actividad que los derivados de eugenol, y el mejor inhibidor fue el benzoiltimol (8,67 \u00b1 0,28 \u03bcg \/ ml). Todos los compuestos demostraron una actividad similar contra los amastigotes, y el acetil-timol fue m\u00e1s activo que el timol y el f\u00e1rmaco de control positivo anfotericina B. La inmunohistoqu\u00edmica demostr\u00f3 la presencia de Leishmaniaamastigote solo en el bazo pero no en el h\u00edgado de ratones tratados con acetil-timol.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>CONCLUSI\u00d3N: Por lo tanto, estos derivados sintetizados demostraron actividad antileishmanial tanto in vitro como in vivo.
