Los flavonoides son metabolitos secundarios de origen vegetal ampliamente investigados en la actualidad y representan uno de los grupos fen\u00f3licos de productos naturales m\u00e1s importantes y diversificados. Varias actividades biol\u00f3gicas se atribuyen a esta clase de polifenoles, como la actividad antitumoral, antioxidante, antiviral y antiinflamatoria, entre otras, que dan una importancia farmacol\u00f3gica significativa.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nuestro grupo ha observado que los flavonoides derivados de plantas brasile\u00f1as Dimorphandra mollis Bent., Croton betulaster M\u00fcll. Arg., E Poincianella pyramidalis Tul., Sin\u00f3nimo bot\u00e1nico Caesalpinia pyramidalis Tul. tambi\u00e9n provocan un amplio espectro de respuestas en astrocitos y neuronas en cultivo como activaci\u00f3n de astrocitos y microglia, protecci\u00f3n asociada a astrocitos de c\u00e9lulas progenitoras neuronales, diferenciaci\u00f3n neuronal y neuritog\u00e9nesis.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Se observ\u00f3 que los flavonoides tambi\u00e9n induc\u00edan la diferenciaci\u00f3n neuronal de c\u00e9lulas madre embrionarias de rat\u00f3n y c\u00e9lulas madre pluripotentes humanas. Adem\u00e1s, con el objetivo de buscar evidencia farmacol\u00f3gica precl\u00ednica de estas mol\u00e9culas, con el fin de evaluar su uso futuro en el tratamiento de trastornos neurodegenerativos, hemos evaluado los efectos de los flavonoides en modelos precl\u00ednicos in vitro de neuroinflamaci\u00f3n asociada con la enfermedad de Parkinson y la toxicidad del glutamato asociada con isquemia\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>En particular, nuestros esfuerzos se han dirigido a identificar mecanismos involucrados en los cambios en la viabilidad, la morfolog\u00eda, y la funci\u00f3n de las c\u00e9lulas gliales inducidas por flavonoides en cultivos de c\u00e9lulas gliales y c\u00e9lulas neuronales solas o en interacciones y aclarar la relaci\u00f3n con sus efectos neuroprotectores y morfol\u00f3gicos.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Costa, S.
