Una mayor ingesta de varios flavonoides reduce el riesgo de diabetes y enfermedades cardiovasculares, pero ning\u00fan estudio ha examinado las asociaciones entre los flavonoides y la funci\u00f3n er\u00e9ctil.<\/p>\n<p>OBJETIVO: Este estudio examin\u00f3 la relaci\u00f3n entre el consumo habitual de subclase de flavonoides y la incidencia de DE.<\/p>\n<p>DISE\u00d1O: Realizamos un estudio prospectivo entre 25.096 hombres del Estudio de seguimiento de profesionales de la salud. La ingesta total de flavonoides y subclases se calcul\u00f3 a partir de cuestionarios de frecuencia alimentaria recogidos cada 4 a\u00f1os. Los participantes calificaron su funci\u00f3n er\u00e9ctil en 2000 (con informes hist\u00f3ricos de 1986) y nuevamente en 2004 y 2008.<\/p>\n<p>RESULTADOS Durante 10 a\u00f1os de seguimiento, el 35,6% inform\u00f3 incidentes ED. Despu\u00e9s del ajuste multivariado, incluidos los factores de riesgo cl\u00e1sicos de enfermedad cardiovascular, varias subclases se asociaron con una incidencia reducida de DE, espec\u00edficamente flavonas (RR = 0.91; IC 95%: 0.85, 0.97; tendencia P = 0.006), flavanonas (RR = 0.89; 95% IC: 0,83, 0,95; tendencia P = 0,0009) y antocianinas (RR = 0,91; IC 95%: 0,85, 0,98; tendencia P = 0,002) comparando ingestas extremas. Los resultados se mantuvieron estad\u00edsticamente significativos despu\u00e9s de un ajuste adicional para un puntaje compuesto de ingesta diet\u00e9tica. En los an\u00e1lisis estratificados por edad, una mayor ingesta de flavanonas, antocianinas y flavonas se asoci\u00f3 significativamente con una reducci\u00f3n en el riesgo de disfunci\u00f3n er\u00e9ctil solo en hombres &lt;70 a\u00f1os y no en hombres mayores (11-16% de reducci\u00f3n en el riesgo; interacci\u00f3n P = 0.002, 0.03 y 0.007 para flavonas, flavanonas y antocianinas, respectivamente).<\/p>\n<p>CONCLUSIONES: Estos datos sugieren que una mayor ingesta habitual de alimentos espec\u00edficos ricos en flavonoides se asocia con una menor incidencia de DE.
