(2009).\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S0026049509001255\">Korean red ginseng (Panax ginseng) improves insulin sensitivity and attenuates the development of diabetes in Otsuka Long-Evans Tokushima fatty rats<\/a>.\u00a0<i>Metabolism<\/i>, 58(8), 1170-1177.<\/p>\n<p>FONDO: Se ha informado que el ginseng mejora la hiperglucemia en estudios experimentales y cl\u00ednicos; sin embargo, su mecanismo de acci\u00f3n sigue sin estar claro.<\/p>\n<p>OBJETIVO: En este estudio, investigamos los efectos metab\u00f3licos y los supuestos mecanismos moleculares del ginseng rojo coreano (KRG, Panax ginseng) en modelos animales para diabetes mellitus tipo 2 (DM2) y l\u00edneas celulares perif\u00e9ricas sensibles a la insulina.<\/p>\n<p>M\u00c9TODO: El ginseng rojo coreano se administr\u00f3 por v\u00eda oral en una dosis de 200 mg \/ (kg d) a ratas grasas Tokushima Otsuka Long-Evans durante 40 semanas. Inicialmente, la administraci\u00f3n cr\u00f3nica de KRG redujo el aumento de peso y la masa de grasa visceral en el per\u00edodo inicial sin alterar la ingesta de alimentos.<\/p>\n<p>RESULTADOS: Las ratas grasas Tokushima Otsuka Long-Evans tratadas con KRG mostraron una mejor sensibilidad a la insulina y conservaron significativamente la tolerancia a la glucosa en comparaci\u00f3n con los animales de control no tratados hasta las 50 semanas de edad, lo que implica que KRG atenu\u00f3 el desarrollo de diabetes manifiesta. KRG promovi\u00f3 la oxidaci\u00f3n de \u00e1cidos grasos mediante la activaci\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna quinasa activada por monofosfato de adenosina (AMPK) y la fosforilaci\u00f3n de la acetilcoenzima A carboxilasa en el m\u00fasculo esquel\u00e9tico y las c\u00e9lulas musculares C2C12 cultivadas.
