Sin embargo, los mecanismos que subyacen a este efecto protector son poco conocidos.<\/p>\n<p>OBJETIVO: Investigar la asociaci\u00f3n de niveles de \u00e1cidos grasos omega-3 en sangre con cambios temporales en la longitud de los tel\u00f3meros, un marcador emergente de la edad biol\u00f3gica.<\/p>\n<p>DISE\u00d1O, CONFIGURACION Y PARTICIPANTES: Estudio de cohortes prospectivo de 608 pacientes ambulatorios ambulatorios en California con enfermedad arterial coronaria estable reclutados del estudio Heart and Soul Study entre septiembre de 2000 y diciembre de 2002 y seguidos hasta enero de 2009 (mediana, 6,0 a\u00f1os; rango, 5,0-8,1) a\u00f1os). Principales medidas de resultado: Medimos la longitud de los tel\u00f3meros leucocitarios al inicio y nuevamente despu\u00e9s de 5 a\u00f1os de seguimiento. Se usaron modelos de regresi\u00f3n lineal y log\u00edstica multivariable para investigar la asociaci\u00f3n de los niveles de referencia de \u00e1cidos grasos omega-3 (\u00e1cido docosahexaenoico [DHA] y \u00e1cido eicosapentaenoico [EPA]) con el cambio posterior en la longitud de los tel\u00f3meros.<\/p>\n<p>RESULTADOS: Los individuos en el cuartil m\u00e1s bajo de DHA + EPA experimentaron la tasa m\u00e1s r\u00e1pida de acortamiento de los tel\u00f3meros (0,13 unidades de proporci\u00f3n de genes de tel\u00f3mero a copia [T \/ S] en 5 a\u00f1os; intervalo de confianza [IC] del 95%, 0,09-0,17) , mientras que aquellos en el cuartil m\u00e1s alto experimentaron la tasa m\u00e1s lenta de acortamiento de los tel\u00f3meros (0,05 unidades T \/ S en 5 a\u00f1os, IC del 95%, 0,02-0,08, p &lt;0,001 para la tendencia lineal entre cuartiles). Los niveles de DHA + EPA se asociaron con menos acortamiento de los tel\u00f3meros antes (coeficiente \u03b2 no ajustado \u00d7 10 -3 = 0.06, IC 95%, 0.02-0.10) y despu\u00e9s (coeficiente \u03b2 ajustado \u00d7 10 -3 = 0.05; Ajuste secuencial para factores de riesgo establecidos y posibles factores de confusi\u00f3n. Cada aumento de 1-SD en los niveles de DHA + EPA se asoci\u00f3 con una reducci\u00f3n del 32% en las probabilidades de acortamiento de los tel\u00f3meros (odds ratio ajustado, 0,68; IC del 95%, 0,47-0,98).<\/p>\n<p>CONCLUSION: Entre esta cohorte de pacientes con enfermedad arterial coronaria, hubo una relaci\u00f3n inversa entre los niveles sangu\u00edneos basales de \u00e1cidos grasos omega-3 marinos y la tasa de acortamiento de los tel\u00f3meros durante 5 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Farzaneh-Far, R., Lin, J., Epel, E.
