La creencia dominante es los efectos terap\u00e9uticos del ajo en pacientes con malestar g\u00e1strico y problemas digestivos.<\/p>\n<p>OBJETIVO: En este estudio pretendemos investigar el efecto del ajo sobre el \u00e1cido g\u00e1strico y la pepsina tanto en condici\u00f3n b\u00e1sica como estimulada por est\u00edmulo el\u00e9ctrico del nervio vago en rata.<\/p>\n<p>METODOS: En un estudio experimental se seleccionaron dos grupos de 12 ratas wistar. para dejar al animal inconsciente, se administraron por v\u00eda ip 50 mg \/ kg de tiopantal s\u00f3dico. y cada rata fue traqueostomizada, laparatomizada, gastrodeodonostomizada y luego se introdujeron 100 mg \/ kg de extracto de ajo disuelto en soluci\u00f3n salina al 9% en el est\u00f3mago del animal. Los nervios vagos de ambos lados del cuello se liberaron de la l\u00e1mina carot\u00eddea y se estimularon con 15 milivoltios, frecuencia de 4 Herts y 1 milisegundo de ancho. Las secreciones del est\u00f3mago luego se lavaron en las siguientes etapas; primera base, segunda base, condiciones de estimulaci\u00f3n vago y reverso a la base. Las cantidades de \u00e1cido del lavado se midieron mediante titrometr\u00eda y las cantidades de pepsina se midieron con la t\u00e9cnica de Anson.<\/p>\n<p>RESULTADOS: La secreci\u00f3n de \u00e1cido y pepsina aument\u00f3 significativamente en las ratas que recibieron extractos de ajo (p &lt;0,000 p &lt;0,05 respectivamente). La estimulaci\u00f3n por los nervios vagos en el grupo de control aument\u00f3 significativamente el nivel de \u00e1cido (p &lt;0.05) y pepsina (p &lt;0.05) y el grupo tratado con ajo tuvo una tasa de secreci\u00f3n similar al grupo estimulado. Adem\u00e1s, no hubo una relaci\u00f3n significativa entre el sexo de las ratas estudiadas.<\/p>\n<p>CONCLUSION: El consumo de ajo en la dieta tiene muchos beneficios para la digesti\u00f3n de los alimentos, por lo que puede ser beneficioso para aquellos pacientes con problemas digestivos, sin embargo, cabe se\u00f1alar que las personas con disfunci\u00f3n digestiva relacionada con un aumento del nivel de \u00e1cido g\u00e1strico o pepsina deben evitar consumo de ajo.
