Los antagonistas muscar\u00ednicos parasimp\u00e1ticos reducen el efecto t\u00e9rmico de los nutrientes administrados por v\u00eda oral, muy probablemente al retrasar el vaciado g\u00e1strico y disminuir la cantidad de almacenamiento de nutrientes.<\/p>\n<p>Los antagonistas de los receptores beta adren\u00e9rgicos disminuyen el efecto t\u00e9rmico de la glucosa. La parte de la termog\u00e9nesis inducida por glucosa que es eliminada por los antagonistas beta-adren\u00e9rgicos se ha denominado \u00abtermog\u00e9nesis facultativa\u00bb y tiene lugar, al menos en parte, en el m\u00fasculo esquel\u00e9tico. La estimulaci\u00f3n de la actividad del nervio simp\u00e1tico muscular inducida por insulina puede estar involucrada en esta termog\u00e9nesis facultativa.<\/p>\n<p>El efecto t\u00e9rmico de los alimentos se reduce en pacientes obesos resistentes a la insulina. El efecto de la termog\u00e9nesis representa alrededor de 50-150 kcal \/ d\u00eda en tales pacientes y puede explicar solo una peque\u00f1a parte de su exceso de peso corporal.
