La prevalencia de HPB aumenta de manera dependiente de la edad.<\/p>\n<p>Investigamos el efecto protector del \u00e1cido urs\u00f3lico en el desarrollo de BPH utilizando un modelo de rata de BPH inducida por testosterona. La HPB se indujo en grupos experimentales mediante inyecciones subcut\u00e1neas diarias de propionato de testosterona (TP), durante un per\u00edodo de cuatro semanas. El \u00e1cido urs\u00f3lico se administr\u00f3 diariamente por sonda oral a un nivel de dosis de 5 mg \/ kg durante las cuatro semanas de inyecciones de TP. Los animales se sacrificaron en la terminaci\u00f3n programada, antes de pesar las pr\u00f3statas y someterlas a examen histopatol\u00f3gico. Tambi\u00e9n se midieron los niveles de TP y dihidrotestosterona (DHT) en el suero y la pr\u00f3stata.<\/p>\n<p>Los animales inducidos por BPH mostraron un aumento en el peso de la pr\u00f3stata con niveles aumentados de testosterona y DHT tanto en el suero como en la pr\u00f3stata. Sin embargo, el tratamiento con \u00e1cido urs\u00f3lico produjo reducciones significativas en el peso de la pr\u00f3stata y los niveles de testosterona y DHT tanto en el suero como en la pr\u00f3stata, en comparaci\u00f3n con los animales inducidos por BPH. El examen histopatol\u00f3gico tambi\u00e9n mostr\u00f3 que el tratamiento con \u00e1cido urs\u00f3lico suprimi\u00f3 la hiperplasia prost\u00e1tica inducida por TP.<\/p>\n<p>Estos hallazgos indican que el \u00e1cido urs\u00f3lico puede inhibir eficazmente el desarrollo de BPH y puede ser un agente \u00fatil en el tratamiento de BPH.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Shin, I.
