Sin embargo, la evidencia actual es limitada, y sigue siendo incierto si esta asociaci\u00f3n existe entre los puertorrique\u00f1os, una poblaci\u00f3n agobiada por la depresi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>OBJETIVOS: Examinamos la asociaci\u00f3n entre los biomarcadores \u03c9-3 FA y los s\u00edntomas depresivos, as\u00ed como la posible influencia del estr\u00e9s oxidativo.<\/p>\n<p>METODOS: Se realizaron an\u00e1lisis de l\u00ednea de base y longitudinales en el Boston Puerto Rican Health Study (n = 787; participantes de 57 \u00b1 0.52 a\u00f1os, 73% mujeres). La concentraci\u00f3n urinaria de 8-hidroxi-2&#8242;-desoxiguanosina (8-OHdG), una medida del estr\u00e9s oxidativo y la composici\u00f3n de FA de eritrocitos se recogieron al inicio del estudio. Calculamos el \u00edndice de omega-3 como la suma de los \u00e1cidos eicosapentaenoico y docosahexaenoico, expresada como porcentaje del total de AG. Los s\u00edntomas depresivos iniciales y de 2 a\u00f1os se caracterizaron mediante el uso de la escala de depresi\u00f3n del Centro de Estudios Epidemiol\u00f3gicos (CES-D). Los an\u00e1lisis estad\u00edsticos incluyeron regresi\u00f3n lineal y log\u00edstica.<\/p>\n<p>RESULTADOS: La concentraci\u00f3n de 8-OHdG en orina tendi\u00f3 a modificar la relaci\u00f3n entre el \u00edndice de omega-3 de eritrocitos y la puntuaci\u00f3n CES-D basal (interacci\u00f3n P = 0,10). En los an\u00e1lisis estratificados, el \u00edndice de omega-3 se asoci\u00f3 inversamente con la puntuaci\u00f3n CES-D (\u03b2 = \u22121,74, SE = 0,88; P = 0,02) entre los que estaban en el cuartil superior de la concentraci\u00f3n de 8-OHdG, pero no entre los de los cuartiles inferiores. . La relaci\u00f3n entre el \u00edndice omega-3 y CES-D a los 2 a\u00f1os se modific\u00f3 m\u00e1s claramente por la concentraci\u00f3n de 8-OHdG (interacci\u00f3n P = 0,04), donde el \u00edndice omega-3 se asoci\u00f3 inversamente con CES-D a los 2 a\u00f1os, ajustado para la l\u00ednea de base (\u03b2 = \u22121.66, SE = 0.66; P = 0.02), solo entre aquellos con concentraciones elevadas de 8-OHdG. Entre las personas que no tomaban medicamentos antidepresivos y en el tercil superior de la concentraci\u00f3n urinaria de 8-OHdG, el \u00edndice de omega-3 se asoci\u00f3 con probabilidades significativamente m\u00e1s bajas de una puntuaci\u00f3n CES-D \u226516 al inicio (OR: 0,72; IC del 95%: 0,53, 0,96) pero no a los 2 a\u00f1os (OR: 0,83; IC del 95%: 0,60, 1,15).<\/p>\n<p>CONCLUSIONES: Se observ\u00f3 una asociaci\u00f3n inversa entre el \u00edndice omega-3 y los s\u00edntomas depresivos entre los participantes con biomarcadores de estr\u00e9s oxidativo elevados. Estos datos sugieren que el estado de estr\u00e9s oxidativo puede identificar a aquellos que podr\u00edan beneficiarse del consumo de \u03c9-3 FA para mejorar los s\u00edntomas depresivos.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bigornia, S.
