(2002). <a href=\"https:\/\/academic.oup.com\/ajcn\/article\/76\/5\/1000\/4689558\">Effect of diets enriched in almonds on insulin action and serum lipids in adults with normal glucose tolerance or type 2 diabetes<\/a>.\u00a0<i>The American journal of clinical nutrition<\/i>, 76(5), 1000-1006.<\/p>\n<p>ANTECEDENTES: Los frutos secos parecen tener beneficios cardiovasculares, pero su efecto en los pacientes diab\u00e9ticos no est\u00e1 claro.<\/p>\n<p>OBJETIVO: El objetivo fue evaluar los efectos de las dietas enriquecidas con almendras sobre la sensibilidad a la insulina y los l\u00edpidos en pacientes con normoglucemia o diabetes tipo 2.<\/p>\n<p>DISE\u00d1O: El estudio 1 evalu\u00f3 el efecto de las almendras sobre la sensibilidad a la insulina en 20 voluntarios sanos de vida libre que recibieron 100 g de almendras \/ d\u00eda durante 4 semanas. El Estudio 2 fue un estudio cruzado aleatorio que compar\u00f3 4 dietas en 30 voluntarios con diabetes tipo 2: 1) alto contenido de grasa, alto contenido de almendras (HFA; 37% de grasa total, 10% de almendras); 2) bajo en grasa, alto en almendras (LFA; 25% de grasa total, 10% de almendras); 3) control de alto contenido de grasa (HFC; 37% de grasa total, 10% de aceite de oliva o canola); y 4) control bajo en grasas (LFC; 25% de grasa total, 10% de aceite de oliva o de canola). Despu\u00e9s de cada dieta de 4 semanas, se midieron los l\u00edpidos s\u00e9ricos y la tolerancia a la glucosa oral.<\/p>\n<p>RESULTADOS: En el estudio 1, el consumo de almendras no cambi\u00f3 significativamente la sensibilidad a la insulina, aunque el peso corporal aument\u00f3 y el colesterol total y LDL disminuy\u00f3 en un 21% y 29%, respectivamente (P &lt;0.05). En el estudio 2, el colesterol total fue m\u00e1s bajo con la dieta HFA (4,46 \u00b1 0,14, 4,52 \u00b1 0,14, 4,63 \u00b1 0,14 y 4,63 \u00b1 0,14 mmol \/ L con las dietas HFA, HFC, LFA y LFC, respectivamente; P = 0,0004 para nivel de grasa). El colesterol HDL fue significativamente menor con las dietas de almendras (P = 0,002); sin embargo, no se observ\u00f3 ning\u00fan efecto significativo de la fuente de grasa sobre LDL: HDL. La glucemia no se vio afectada.<\/p>\n<p>CONCLUSIONES: Las dietas enriquecidas con almendras no alteran la sensibilidad a la insulina en adultos sanos ni la glucemia en pacientes con diabetes.
