Este estudio fue dise\u00f1ado para evaluar si la terapia de extracto de ajo envejecido con suplementos (AGE + S) afecta favorablemente los biomarcadores inflamatorios y de oxidaci\u00f3n, la funci\u00f3n vascular y la progresi\u00f3n de la aterosclerosis en comparaci\u00f3n con el placebo.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>METODOS: En este ensayo aleatorizado, doble ciego, controlado con placebo (realizado entre 2005 y 2007), se trat\u00f3 a 65 pacientes de riesgo intermedio (edad 60 \u00b1 9 a\u00f1os, 79% hombres) con una c\u00e1psula de placebo o una c\u00e1psula que conten\u00eda extracto de ajo envejecido (250 mg ) m\u00e1s vitamina B12 (100 \u03bcg), \u00e1cido f\u00f3lico (300 \u03bcg), vitamina B6 (12,5 mg) y l-arginina (100 mg) administrados diariamente durante un a\u00f1o. Todos los pacientes se sometieron a gammagraf\u00eda de calcio en las arterias coronarias (CAC), rebote de temperatura (TR) como \u00edndice de reactividad vascular mediante monitorizaci\u00f3n t\u00e9rmica digital (DTM) y medici\u00f3n del perfil lip\u00eddico, autoanticuerpos contra malondialdeh\u00eddo (MDA) -LDL, complejos inmunes apoB, Se midieron fosfol\u00edpidos oxidados (OxPL) en apolipoprote\u00edna B-100 (OxPL \/ apoB), lipoprote\u00edna (a) [Lp (a)], prote\u00edna C reactiva (PCR) y homociste\u00edna al inicio del estudio ya los 12 meses. La progresi\u00f3n de CAC se defini\u00f3 como un aumento en CAC&gt; 15% por a\u00f1o y un aumento en TR por encima de la l\u00ednea de base se consider\u00f3 una respuesta favorable.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>RESULTADOS: Al a\u00f1o, la progresi\u00f3n del CAC fue significativamente menor y la TR significativamente mayor en el grupo AGE + S en comparaci\u00f3n con el grupo de placebo despu\u00e9s del ajuste de los factores de riesgo cardiovascular (p &lt;0.05).
