(2013). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC3856628\/\">Role of maca (Lepidium meyenii) consumption on serum interleukin-6 levels and health status in populations living in the Peruvian Central Andes over 4000 m of altitude<\/a>.\u00a0<i>Plant foods for human nutrition<\/i>,\u00a0<i>68<\/i>(4), 347-351.<\/p>\n<p>CONTEXTO:<em><span> Lepidium meyenii <\/span><\/em><span>(Maca) es una planta que crece a m\u00e1s de 4000 metros sobre el nivel del mar en los Andes centrales del Per\u00fa.\u00a0Los hipocotilos de esta planta se consumen tradicionalmente por sus propiedades nutricionales y medicinales.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>OBJETIVO: El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar el estado de salud basado en un cuestionario de calidad de vida relacionada con la salud (CVRS) (SF-20) y los niveles s\u00e9ricos de interleucina 6 (IL-6) en sujetos consumidores de maca. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>DISE\u00d1O Y MEDIDAS: Para ello se dise\u00f1\u00f3 un estudio transversal a realizar en 50 sujetos de Jun\u00edn (4100 m): 27 sujetos eran consumidores de maca y 23 no consumidores. La encuesta SF-20 se utiliza para obtener una medida resumida del estado de salud. La prueba de levantarse de una silla y sentarse (SUCSD) (para evaluar la funci\u00f3n de las extremidades inferiores), medici\u00f3n de hemoglobina, presi\u00f3n arterial, niveles de hormonas sexuales, Se evaluaron los niveles s\u00e9ricos de IL-6 y la puntuaci\u00f3n del mal de monta\u00f1a cr\u00f3nico (CMS). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>RESULTADOS: La relaci\u00f3n testosterona\/estradiol (P\u226a0.05), IL-6 (P&lt;0.05) y la puntuaci\u00f3n de CMS fueron m\u00e1s bajas, mientras que la puntuaci\u00f3n del estado de salud fue m\u00e1s alta en los consumidores de maca en comparaci\u00f3n con los no consumidores (P&lt;0.01). Una mayor proporci\u00f3n de consumidores de maca completaron con \u00e9xito la prueba SUCSD en comparaci\u00f3n con los no consumidores (P&lt;0.01), mostrando una asociaci\u00f3n significativa con valores m\u00e1s bajos de IL-6 s\u00e9rica (P&lt;0.05). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>CONCLUSION: En conclusi\u00f3n, el consumo de maca se asoci\u00f3 con niveles s\u00e9ricos bajos de IL-6 y, a su vez, con mejores puntajes en el estado de salud en la encuesta SF-20 y puntajes bajos en el mal cr\u00f3nico de monta\u00f1a.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gonzales, G.
